Kuzhi Paniyaram is a popular South Indian breakfast dish. The rice and dal are soaked separately for 3 hours and then grind it. The
batter is then allowed to ferment at least for 5-6 hours. A very healthy and delicious snacks loved by anyone from kids to senior people. My kid is a picky eater, today morning he asked for fried idly (its paniyaram actually), even I explain that batter we dont have, he don't understand. You know its really a big challenge to convince kids nowadays. Acutally I had fermented idly batter which was grinded the previous night. Generally i make punugulu with this fresh batter. This time I want to use idly batter for paniyaram.
Its kids recipe so it should be healthy too. So along with the batter I add finely chopped cabbage and carrot.
Ingredients
- Idly/Dosa batter - 1 cup
- Vegetables as your choice, whatever at your kitchen.
- Oil as required
Method
- Mix batter with finely chopped vegetables. The batter becomes thick, if you need can add 1/4 cup water.
- Add few drops of oil in each well of the paniyaram pan and heat it over
medium flame.
- Fill 3/4 of each mould with the batter ( as it will rise
little while cooking). Cook on low
to medium flame for 2-3 minutes or until the lower side is golden brown,
flip each of paniyaram with the help of a wooden stick. Cook for 1-2
minutes on this side.
