Tandoori chicken is traditionally cooked in a tandoor. Tandoor at home is impossible for our lifestyle. But we have oven to make a perfect tandoori chicken. I used lemon skins it adds fresh and tangy taste to chicken. I hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turned out for you.
Ingredients
- Chicken drumstick - 8 pieces
For First Marination
- Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
- Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 2 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Salt as per taste
For Second Marination
- Coriander Powder - 2 tbsp
- Cumin Powder - 2 tsp
- Parsley Flakes - 1 tsp
- Rosemary - 1 tsp
- Lemon Juice - 2 tsp
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tbsp
Method
- Clean the chicken and make deep slits as shown in picture 1.
- Take a bowl and mix all the ingredients under For First Marination.
- Add chicken and mix well. Marinate for 10 - 15 mins.
- Now take For second marination ingredients in a bowl and mix well along with chicken.
- Grate lemon skin over mixture. You feel fresh and tangy flavor while eating.
- Leave this to marinate for minimum 6 hours or over night. Keep refrigerated.
- Next day, remove it and let it come to room temp.
- Preheat oven to 350 Degrees.
- Now place the chicken over a foil lined baking tray and pop it in oven for 15 mins.
- Remove it and flip over, apply leftover marination if any.
- Bake it for 15 more mins. Remove the tray from oven and check it cooked fully using fork.
- Broil for 5 mins, it gives crispy texture on top.

Mix well |
Seal it properly for marination |
Next day morning |
Well marinated |
Place on tray with aluminum foil covered |
After 15 mins take and flip over |
After 15 mins check it cooked fully |
Ready to serve |
