Instant Pot Series - Srilankan Red Rice porridge - Matta Rice porridge - Sigaparisi kanji Recipe

 Matta Rice kanji is one of the traditional food in Srilanka, Kerala and southern part of Tamil Nadu. Adding moong dal to your daily diet contains a range of health benefits, also it contains high nutrients. This porridge tastes amazing with some coconut sambal. Ingredients

  • Matta Rice / Red Rice - 1.5 cup
  • Moong dal / Pasiparuppu - 1/2 cup
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Coconut milk - 1 cup
  • Water - 5 cups
  • Salt as per taste

Method

  1. Dry roast the rice and dal. Then wash rice atleast 3 to 4 times and pasiparuppu well. 
  2.  Open instant pot and add rice, dal, cumin seeds and water and mix it.
  3. Close the lid. Hit PRESSURE COOK and set time for 10 mins.
  4. Allow the pressure releases naturally and open the lid.
  5. Add salt and coconut milk and mix well.
  6. Serve kanji with sambal or any thogayal.
