Soak both channa dal and toor dal for 3 hours.
After 3 hrs, drain the water completely.
Take 1/4 cup of the soaked dal and keep it
aside.
Now add the 1/4 cup of dal, onions and ½ cup of Green
leaves. Mix everything well.
Green leaves (any keerai) – ½ cup
Grind the rest of the dal together with red
chillies, green chillies, hing and salt coarsely.
Make equal sized balls out of the mix and flatten
it.
Heat oil in a pan. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop a
little batter into the oil, if it raises to the surface immediately, the oil is
hot enough to fry the vadas.
Reduce the flame to medium and deep fry all the balls. Once deep
fried place it in a kitchen towel to drain off the excess oil.
